Meet the Team
Kirsten Humphrey, RDH
Kirsten Humphrey has been a dedicated member of the Beard Dentistry team for 14 years. She began her career after graduating from Faulkner State Community College’s Dental Assisting program in 2012 and spent 10 years assisting Dr. Beard. In 2022, she earned her Dental Hygiene License from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, continuing her passion for patient care in a new role.
Born and raised in Chatom, Kirsten still calls it home. She lives there with her husband, David, and their four children—three boys and one sassy girl. Outside the office, Kirsten enjoys soaking up time with her kids and embracing the joyful chaos of being a busy mom.
Kelsey Sims, Dental Assistant
Kelsey Sims joined Beard Dentistry in 2021 and has been a valuable part of the clinical team ever since. A native of Tibbie, AL, she graduated from Coastal Community College’s Dental Assisting program in 2020. As one of the youngest members of the team, Kelsey brings fresh energy and a strong work ethic to the office, always maintaining professionalism while supporting patients and staff alike. Outside of work, Kelsey is known for her lively personality and adventurous spirit.
Kelly Phillips, RDH
Kelly Phillips has been in dentistry for over 31 years—more than half her life—and has proudly served patients at Beard Dentistry for 25 of those years. She earned her Dental Hygiene License in 1995 and later obtained her Infiltration License in 2019, continuing to expand her clinical skills and commitment to patient care.
Originally from Choctaw County, Kelly now lives in Grove Hill with her husband, Robbie. They have two children, Cydnee and Trace. Known for her dedication and warmth, Kelly lives by her favorite quote: “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Kayla Beard, RDH, BS, M.Ed.
Kayla Beard is a dental professional from Jackson, Alabama, with a passion for education and patient-centered care. Her dental journey began in high school in 2007, at Dr. Beard’s office, and led her to earn certifications in dental assisting and hygiene from Meridian Community College in 2012, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from UMMC.
In 2019, Kayla obtained her local anesthesia permit through UAB and later earned a Master’s in Education from the University of West Alabama. She is also a certified CPR instructor through the American Red Cross.
Kayla lives in Jackson with her husband, Dent, and their two boys, Blaise and Stanton. Inspired by her grandmother’s advice—“your education is something no one can ever take from you”—Kayla is committed to lifelong learning and making a positive impact through dentistry, education, and community enrichment.
Bethany May, RDH
Bethany May has been a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2017 and has been serving patients at Beard Dentistry since 2021. A proud graduate of Meridian Community College, she brings a warm, personal touch to every appointment, prioritizing trust and connection with each patient she sees.
Bethany lives in her hometown of Millry, AL, with her husband, Bradley. They are excited to welcome their first child—a baby girl—in the coming months. Since joining Dr. Beard’s team, Bethany has loved caring for the Jackson community, including many familiar faces from her own hometown.
Mollie Sanderson, Scheduling & Insurance Coordinator
Mollie Sanderson has been part of the Beard Dentistry team since 2021, serving as our Scheduling and Insurance Coordinator.
Originally from Millry, AL, Mollie graduated from Coastal Community College’s Dental Assisting program in 2019. Though trained as a clinical assistant, she found her passion in the front office—where her conversational skills and people-first approach truly shine.
Mollie lives in Millry with her husband, Patrick, and their baby girl, who lovingly rules the roost. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family.
April Overstreet, RDH, Office Manager
Meet April Overstreet, a valued team member at Beard Dentistry for the past 37 years. April began her dental career by earning her Dental Assisting Certificate from Faulkner Community College in 1989, then went on to receive her Dental Hygiene License from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1991. With a passion for patient care and decades of experience, she has found dentistry to be an incredibly rewarding career.
April has been married to her husband, Trip, for 35 years. They have two children, William and Caroline, and a grandchild, Oliver. Outside of the office, April enjoys spending quality time with her family and cherishing life’s everyday moments.
